Heart rate and temperature are pretty much back to normal. She'll spend tonight in the ICU for further observation. Right now, they are primarily concerned with her liver functions. Some of the tests from last night and early this morning showed a few things that were out of whack.
From talking with the oncology doctor, it is likely that there was a significant amount of leukemia in the liver and that the chemo attacked it, but this puts a heavy toll on the liver. Given her relative young age, her body is able to withstand it and we should be back on plan in a couple days.
At this point, we're optimistic that they'll move her out of ICU and back to the Oncology floor within the next 24 hours, but it all depends on the results from the additional liver tests. Assuming she is well enough to move, they also will likely begin chemo within the same day or the following day. The doctor had previously warned us that the very first dosage is the often most difficult. So, she's looking getting this behind her and moving further towards recovery.
She has some pain tonight, but I think it is more from laying in bed all day and not from the normal aches and pains. Her spirits are still high and she is confident that the prayers and well wishes are going to help her get through this.
That's it for me for tonight as I'm hoping the rest of the night is boring.

Happy Birthday to you Anna! Definitely not the place you'd want to be when celebrating a bday, but I'm thinking when this is all over, Mr. Tom is going to have to find some way to really celebrate! Maybe an island venue with a nice sparkley gift to go with it!!! Ira made sure he came in to tell me that he's ready to take you dancing! Won't that be a trip! :) He's ready! I haven't made it to the blog to check in every day, so thanks to Ira i do get daily updates. A tough couple days it sounds like, I'm sorry to hear. Glad to know that you've had visits from TJ. Anna Banana! You're in my thoughts today as you have been so often recently. I'm sure its no fun being where you're at today of all days but atleast you're here mama. God is good! The first rounds of chemo are difficult but I know you can push past and keep looking towards that brighter tomorrow that IS coming. As you know, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of 2007 and it was not easy but she has made it through. You and her share a similar spirit - pinkies up and queen of the castle :-) - and I'm sure that it will serve you well right about now.
