Yankee Stadium, Ryder Cup, Football, and Anna, too
Anna's doing well. Feeling pretty good today and another day with a good appetite. No chemo treatments today. I think we pick that up tomorrow. Quick thank yous to Arnie and Beverly for the get well card. Also, thanks to Isabel and Carmen for the care package.
Great sports day today.... I watched a bunch of the Ryder Cup this weekend and the Americans pulled this one off. Great tournament and it was a lot more exciting for me than in previous years. Good football day so far, but as of the time of this post the Steelers are losing... hopefully, that'll turn around. ESPN has already started their coverage from Yankee Stadium and it's been pretty awesome. It's going to be a short post, as things at the hospital today are pretty boring (boring = good, when you are in the hospital). ESPN was just reviewing a few of the greatest moments of all time at Yankee Stadium. Keeping with the theme, here are my three of my personal favorites:
On TV:
1996 World Series, winning game 6 in the Bronx after dropping the first two at home. Charlie Hayes catching the final out in foul territory. Rivera and Wetteland being dominant. Wade Boggs riding around on the horse. Fantastic stuff.
In Person:
2001 World Series, game 4... Tino Martinez hitting the 2 run home run in the bottom of the 9th and then Jeter follows with another home run in the 10th. Without a doubt, the most exciting sporting event that I have ever witnessed in person. The place was rockin'.
2008 Jul 8th... Anna and I took TJ to his first baseball game. Being lifelong Yankee fans, it is a pretty special experience to bring your son to his first baseball game at Yankee Stadium. Can't wait till next year to take him to the new park. And, we won that game 2-1 over Tampa, when Jeter scored from first on Abreu's double in the 10th. Mo pitched two scoreless innings.
One more night of memories and then tomorrow we can start rebuilding for next year.

Hola again
Hello my Anna Banana - sorry I couldn't get to you over weekend. I have your cell now to text (which I hate but I will do for you!!). I have to admit I got teary-eyed about the stadium too (and I worked on the deal for the new stadium!!) I guess that is because I am a baseball fan and a NY fan first (and I do like Jeter).
You are surrounded by love and blessings - did not realize the date that you took TJ to the stadium - God works in wonderful and mysterious ways.
Tom, Ryder Cup was great and even though I am a Jets fan, I am leaning towards Giants this year - they are too good to ignore. Also, I love your friend Ira for typing in "footprints". I know at this point, Anna, you would be giving me a psalm to read, but all I can think of right now is that God loves you as do all of us. Even though you don't hear from me every day you are in my thoughts every minute!! P.S. Job hunt might be coming to an end soon. Will keep you posted. Tom, couldn't survive without the blog. Thanks Thanks Thanks.
Love ya,
Deb
Hi Guys
Glad to hear all is going in the right direction. T, I appreciate all the info on meds you have given us. However, I noticed something was missing so I snuck it in the care package. Any Dr will tell you that if you are of Caribbean ancestry there is one essential dietary supplement that is absolutely necessary---- AZUCAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Am I right Manita Mamita ;) I hope you all liked the cookies--- they are GOYA and of course si es GOYA..... Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with American products---- Oreo, Nilla Wafers and Pepperage Farm have also been shown to have great healing properties. LOL
Stay strong Mamita, the Lord has you in the palm of his hand and is taking good care of you.
Big Hug
Isa

checking in
Hi Anna,
It's all good -- keep doing what you're doing. Good eating equals strength and good healing. Tom - Good deal that you had time to have a sports Sunday. The Giants rocked too!
Sending lots of love,
Stephanie
Hi Guys
Anna, it is such good news to hear you are feeling good and have a good appetite. I am praying that everything continues as well as it is going now. I watched the game last night and all the festivities. Tino was looking good!!!!! I did get a little teary eyed (I know..shocking for me!!). I so wanted Jeter to hit that grand slam...can you imagine the headlines today if he did that!!!! I was thinking of you alot as I was watching, especially when they were interviewing Tino!! Continue feeling good and I will talk (or text) with you soon.
Love you, Joani
p.s. Tom, you were a busy guy with all those sports yesterday!!!!!!
