Anniversary + TJ

Perhaps not the most exciting anniversary that we've spent together, but we were able to spend the day together and enjoy each others company. As I've said before, boring in the hospital is a good thing. That's the way we'd like it to be every day while we are here. The nurses made us a "Happy Anniversary Anna & Tom" sign and all of the ones that were around, wrote a little personalized note wishing us all the best. It was a very nice gesture. Although I wish this experience on no one, I would recommend this hospital (and doctors and nurses) to anyone that is ever touched by anything remotely similar to what she's going through.

Today was a little quieter than normal and was mostly a day of rest. The pain was there, but manageable and she was able to get caught up on a lot of sleep. Overall, today was better than yesterday which is about all we ask for at this point. We just want to keep going generally in the right direction and realize she'll have her ups and downs. I slept here last night so other than a quick trip home today, I've been here for about 28 hours straight. I spent a bit of time on the phone today, so didn't get to see as much football/baseball as I would have liked. Plus, with her sleeping most of the time, I had moved out to some of the public areas for my phone calls.

Thanks everyone for all the Anniversary posts and comments.

A little bonus video because of our anniversary... he says "Cheese" as he always does when a camera (or camera phone) is around, and then "I love you" before running off...

little better, tj's on the move, big day tomorrow...

The pain was still present, but she felt a little better today than yesterday. She hasn't had much of an appetite the last couple days. No other medical update today. It's quiet around here on the weekends, so at this point its just rest and then pain and other meds, along with an occasional check of the blood pressure, temperature, heart rate and blood sugar levels.

I spent a little time at home this morning trying to get things ready for her to come home. I'm pretty excited about it, but we don't want to rush things. Obviously, it's more important to wait until the right time to make the switch home.

My parent's went home today. Thanks again Mom and Dad for everything. My parents have really enjoyed their time with him, and it's been great to watch TJ get closer to them. Anna's parents took over today and the took TJ into Manhattan with them. The house is quiet, so I'm staying over at the hospital tonight. Trying to get settled into the little recliner that I have over here and get a little sleep.

Tomorrow (Sunday Oct 5th) is our 6th anniversary. Pretty special. Still can't believe it's been 6 years already.

it's friday!

I hope everyone has a great weekend planned ahead of them. I have some work to do around the house to get things ready for her to come up. We're still targeting towards the end of next week.

She had a bit of a rough day today. All of her vitals and numbers are OK, so medically she's doing well... but the pain was a bit more than normal today. This made her a little extra uncomfortable and as a result she didn't really eat a whole lot.

I met with the doctor this afternoon to get a general update and talk about what we can expect. I hadn't seen him in a few weeks, so it was good to talk with him first hand. We reviewed her current condition and her molecular data, liver functions, white blood cell counts, hemoglobin and platelets are all normal or close to normal. She's reached a stage they call "hematologic remission" (aka the blood work looks good). At some point in the next two weeks, she'll undergo another bone marrow test as a checkpoint to obtain another data point. Assuming that looks good, then we continue down the outpatient chemo path. If not, then we look at other treatment options. He gave me a schedule of what the outpatient plan is going to look like. I'll post it at some point over the weekend. All in all, the medical statistics are doing about as well as the can be at this point.

For those who missed it yesterday, check out http://www.reddy2run.com. I think its pretty cool.

She wanted to thank Ruth (neighbor), Elsa (family friend) and Amelia (family friend) for the cards today. Also, I wanted to thank Marco for the comment. I don't normally thank people individually for comments as everyone who reads the blog can see them, but being that we only got one comment I wanted to thank Marco. Only one comment. I must be getting boring :)
