twitter and a little confusion

I seem to have confused a few people with the reference to a twitter widget. If you don't know what that means, don't worry about the terminology. Just realize that in addition to the main blog that you are reading right here, over there on there on the right hand side of the page we have some new content.

That new content will be updates from Anna (above) or me (below). They'll be little tiny updates of a sentence or two. We both have the ability to send these updates from our cell phones. Today, Anna sent in about 10 updates while she was in the hospital for treatment. As soon as she types the update from her cell phone, it immediately appears over there on the right hand side. So, if you had nothing better to do and were watching the website all day, you could have tracked Anna's every movement and activity.

The list on the right will always have only the most recent updates (along with a date/timestamp). If you missed the play by play from the hospital today or want older updates (from earlier dates/times), just click on the read more button and that will take you to a full list of all of our updates.

Any other requests?

geek

She had a pretty quiet week. Tues and Wednesday were off days. She went in for a scheduled blood transfusion on Thursday. On Friday she went in for a platelet transfusion and two doses of chemo. This weekend she was off. She's been feeling pretty good this past week. Still wakes up real tired and achy, but once she gets going she has some pretty good energy. This week, Anna and TJ are staying at our house and my mom came down for this week. Anna was really active today... she setup a bunch of Christmas decorations (with some good help from my mom and not so good help from TJ). She also started driving a bit this weekend. On Saturday, she went with her parent's to the mall (no financial damage) and today she ran to CVS alone. She is definitely continuing to move in the right direction, but does still have a few ups and downs. This week she'll have treatment on Monday and again on Friday... and depending on her numbers, maybe they'll add in something else. It all depends on how well her body is reacting.

I missed another update this past Thursday. I went to the Rangers game on Wednesday and then out for some drinks with some ppl on Thursday night. By the time I got home, I wasn't really in the blogging mood.

I went ahead and geek'd out a bit this weekend. I added a twitter widget over on the right. For now, it's setup to my personal account so you may get more than just Anna updates. For my non-techie people... it's basically a microblogging thing where I can send brief updates, normally via text message from my cell phone or similar. This way, I can send out something quick when I'm in transit to work, or sitting on the couch or whatever.... So, even if I'm not updating the blog itself, you'll probably see quick updates to the twitter feed... I suspect someone will probably think this is cool and want to do it herself at some point.

Oh, and since I was geeking out the past few days, I updated my linkedin profile and updated the look for Gaffney Enterprises.

back to the grind....

Was it just me or was it extra tough to get out of bed on Monday morning? I could sure get used to the 4 day weekend concept.

Anna had treatment again on Monday. Her hemoglobin counts were low again, so she's scheduled for another transfusion on Thursday.... then a round of chemo on Friday. The low hemoglobin is just a side effect of the chemo treatment and is to be expected. This is just something she'll need to deal with as she continues with chemo. Her and TJ are in the city this week with her parents. I stopped by tonight to see everyone and then I'll be back at home for the rest of the week. In addition to Twinkle twinkle, TJ is singing a few Spanish songs as well. It's really amazing to me how good his English and Spanish is these days. It's definitely well beyond knowledge of a few words and well into being able to communicate effectively.

Big thanks to everyone that is still actively reading (and occasionally commenting). Stephanie H definitely gets the gold star for most active commenter.
