a visit from TJ

TJ came to visit this evening with my parents. They were pretty happy to see each other, as it had been a couple of days. TJ was bouncing off the walls, talking in English and Spanish, and trying to give everyone the pound. Normal TJ stuff. We have to watch him, as he can be a bit rough at times.

She felt pretty good during the day. We both think the steroids are helping her to regain some strength. She had her first blood transfusion today. The blood transfusion helps to replenish her low hemoglobins and helps with the fatigue. This is a normal part of the treatment plan and it will continue periodically depending on the results of her daily blood work.

I've received a few questions from different people and rather than respond individually, I think they are relevant to share with everyone.

Question: What stage is the cancer?

rough start, but the day got better

Yesterday was the first day of steroids. She had a rough night because the steroids gave her a little too much energy and made her kind of jumpy. They balanced that off with something else to help her sleep, but it was a bit of a restless night. This morning was tough as the combination of steroids, pain meds, stuff to help her sleep, and food didn't make for a good combination in her stomach.

By mid-day, she was in good shape and we had quite a visitors again today. We're seeing the primary Oncology doctor again tomorrow and he'll give us an exact date as to when she'll be starting chemo and more details around the specific treatment plan.

I did quite a bit of shopping today to pick up some new PJs and hospital gear (those gowns are horrible).

Yanks are out of it. I cant believe we've fallen to fourth place. Steelers win. J-E-T-S win. Must be football season!

today was a good day....

Anna had a good day today. The residual achiness from surgery is still there, but she only took the pain meds twice today. The reoccurring fever that she's been having is also still there, but the Tylenol has been helping and the doctors are not concerned at this point. She started the steroids today, which is part of the treatment plan and they gave her a lot more energy and a much better appetite.

We had a few visitors today and it was nice to see everyone. We have a few more people scheduled for tomorrow and I still need to get back to some others (I'll try to do that tomorrow at some point).

Also, we heard from quite a few friends and family members via phone... some of which we hadn't spoken with in quite a while, so it was good to hear some familiar voices.

I saw that a few people tried to create accounts, but did not receive the welcome message. If you didn't get the welcome email, please check out this info.
