chemo - day 2, doing well

Good day today... the liver functions were close enough to normal that she started chemo again today around 2pm. The fact that we're starting again is encouraging as it means her body was able to withstand the effects of chemo. Thus far, this dose has gone much better than the last one. It's been about six hours and her heart rate, temperature, etc are pretty close to normal. We won't know the results of any of the blood tests, which provide details on the liver, until some time tomorow but so far everything looks good, so we're optimistic. We're hoping for a quiet night tonight and then we'll hopefully be back on the regular treatment schedule.

house is quiet (2nd post today)

Sometimes, I'll post more than once in a day... so try to check the dates on the posts. Likewise, I'll try to make mention of it in the subject. This one is the 2nd one today... just didnt want you to miss the info in the other one.

I forgot to mention in the earlier post that we had been waiting on the results of some other test related to chromosomes. She does not have the Philadelpia chromosome, which is actually good news in that it improves the favorability of the prognosis. I'm not really sure what the chromosome business is all about, as I wasnt there to ask the doctor questions but all I know is that its a good thing (yeah!).

I got back to the house a little while ago. Its quiet! The dog is up with his amigos. The kid is probably still up and running around over at grandmas and hopefully Anna is getting some rest. I guess I'll have a couple cold ones and watch a little UFC.

quick update...

im on the run tonight, as i need to drop the dog off so it'll be a quick update.

chemo still on hold. still waiting for the belliruben numbers to come back to normal. the physical liver is fine, but they are still watching the liver chemistries (whatever that means). doctors say we're ok to continue to postpone as she had such a large dose the first time and better to wait than to put anything at risk. she's developed a small fungal infection that starts in the back of her throat and goes into her stomach which was caused by the chemo. doctor has her on antibiotics. no real side effects as her appetite thus far has actually been increasing.

she has been walking around quite a bit these days, but it does tire her out.

She wanted to thank Ethel and Patrice for sending cards today (and a bunch of other folks who have sent stuff previously that we didn't get a chance to thank).

thats it for now.
